I have installed 32bit Windows 8.1 and 10 on EFI using the DVD before without a problem. Windows Setup DVD, presuming architecture match is set, it should work. If this is the issue, the post should not be made here as Microsoft does not support Grub. You WILL NOT be able to run programs that are on your '32bit Hard Drive'. The Grub is set to run a specific file and it isn't present or is pathed wrong. Login to Windows, Windows Explorer, navigate to the '32bit Hard Drive', open the folders you want to get files from and then drag them to a newly created folder in your '64bit Hard Drive'. Type 4 is possible and more likely to be seen in the Embedded Channel. Example, first run NUCs and some Intel desktop boards were able to boot either architecture in GPT/EFI mode. Type 1 is common for early UEFI 2.3.1 firmware, later replaced by BIOS updates to make thenĦ4bit only. For SFF like tablets or HTPC things like Intel Compute Stick, Type 2 is most common. boot 32bit OS/PE from any interface, boot 64bit OS/PE only from removable device interface (booting 64bit OS/PE from HDD was not allowed)įor your average retail desktop or notebook system, Type 3 is the most common. boot only 64bit OS/PE from any interfaceĤ. boot only 32bit OS/PE from any interfaceģ. boot 32bit or 64bit OS/PE from any interfaceĢ. The settings can be specified to whether or not a specific architecture can be booted from a specific device.įor example, I have used hardware with the following EFI application allowances:ġ. There exist one or the other, or both or combinations depending on the appliance requirements. The Firmware manufacturer can (and usually do) put in blockers to allow a specific architecture to be run. The only other suggestion is to talk to a board manufacture and ask for a 32-bit UEFI firmware.
